Custom Display Format for Last Names in Testimonials

Feature Request

Dear dev team, it would be nice to add an option in the testimonial settings that allows users to select how they want last names to be displayed:

  • Full Name (e.g., "John Wayne")

  • Initial Only (e.g., "John W.")

Benefits

  • Increased user privacy and control over displayed information.

  • Improved user satisfaction by respecting their preferences.

    We 100% need this but more on the Widget settings side than the users submission side. We have 2k testimonials and some are imported from elsewhere where they may not have given permission to use the full name. If we could default widgets to only show John W. instead of John Wayne that would solve a privacy nightmare for us!

    Semi anonymise last name by keeping only first letter

    I like to keep first name, but reduce last name to the first letter only. We keep a sense of "real" user while not divulging their identity.

    For instance,
    - Jean-Baptiste Théard => Jean-Bapttste T.
    - Georges Bush Jr => Georges B. Jr
    (I appreciate it's not an easy task across all languages but it doesn't has to be perfect)

    Also, I would hate my user to be indexed by Google given the field we operate in.

      @JB Théard why don't you just edit the testimonial to remove surname? It's the email address that groups testimonials together.

      @Alicia To be clear, in the backend you’d want their full name, on the frontend (aka widgets), just their first + initial?

        It’s important for the front-end. In many industries (legal, medical, finance, therapy etc.) customers really don’t want to be identified by name and picture on the website - and showing up in google is a no-go.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

    To clarify:

    • Do you want this to show as a question/option in Form?

    • The customers still have the freedom to put their name in any format in the form (first name only, last name only, initials…)?

    • Do you want this to be reflected in the Proof page, like automatically update their name based on the option they choose?

    • Do you want this to be reflected only on the widgets and Walls of Love?

    The best approach right now is:

    • Add a note in the About you page of your form

    • Ask them to put their name in the format they’re comfortable with (full name, first name only, first name + last name initial, etc.)

    Opening this up for discussion and waiting for more upvotes.
